Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of the teen classic, The Breakfast Club. John Hughes’ coming of age movie redefined the genre and launched a generation of actors to stardom. Unfortunately, the instant success of the so-called Brat Pack lead to a backlash that cut short the young actors’ careers. But the resilient cast of The Breakfast Club is still working today despite the setbacks they endured in the 1990s.
Ringwald was the Brat Packer most strongly associated with John Hughes. She starred in three of his most popular movies; Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club, I am revisiting What the Hell Happened to Molly Ringwald?. The original article has been greatly expanded on. Over half of the article is new material.
If you’re still craving more material on The Breakfast Club, be sure to check out the WTHH entries on Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson. Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall, I’ll get to you both later this year!
